Our New Fundraising Goal: £85,000. Why has this gone up?
SOS has raised nearly £50,000 through the huge generosity of its donors. This has been mainly through the GoFundMe site, direct donations and the donations from badges.
To date we have spent or committed around £41,000 on legal advice and consultants. All SOS members have provided their services for free.
We expect further legal and consultant costs of at least £11,000 and if the planning application goes to a public enquiry there will be an additional £50,000 cost incurred.
Please continue to help us fight this unsustainable development and the ruin of our lovely rural town.
What's Happening?
Shipston is under real threat. Developers have submitted proposals for over 1,600 new houses – including 466 homes on the west side and a staggering 1150 more on the east by Fell Mill.
If approved, this would increase the size of Shipston by 64%.
That’s more cars on our roads, more pressure on our schools and GP services, and permanent loss of our precious green spaces and town character.
We are a group of local residents working together to stop speculative, large-scale developments that put profits before community. We're not against growth — but it must be balanced, sustainable, and right for Shipston.
