Join in with soldiers and civilians from the C17th to mark 450 years since Shakespeare’s birth. Walk part of the route the bard took from Stratford and London – The Shakespeare Way.

 

Part of this important route runs through where the Fell Mill housing estates are being proposed.

 

Developers will close this part of the long-distance path and reroute it – along with Centenary Way, along a tarmac route!

Come and learn about Shakespeare’s connections to Barcheston and how Shipston was involved with the English Civil War.

10am Manor Lodge Barcheston to try on/march in C17th costume. For those who want to try on and march in C17th costume, come to Manor Lodge in Barcheston CV36 5AY for 10am where Hopton’s Regiment is camped. Some may even want to put on some armour or beat a drum.

11am Bridge Car Park to walk the route with us. For those who simply want to do the walk with us meet at 11am in the Bridge car park.

​

The walk will be circular up Shakespeare Way and back along Fell Mill Lane which is approx. 1.5 miles. 

 

Small print:

1. Be aware that drums can be disturbing for young children and dogs.

2. Be careful when crossing Barcheston bridge and keep children and animals safe.

3. There will be photography and possibly filming. Please let the organisers know if you don’t want to be filmed or photographed.

4. Know that you undertake any and all of this event entirely at your own risk.
